Between October 14 and 18, 2024, Profeco conducted an analysis of prices across various establishments in Mexico, revealing noticeable fluctuations in the costs of the basic basket. They monitored 24 essential products, finding a stark 250 pesos difference between the most expensive and the cheapest baskets. Locations such as Tijuana and MΓ©rida recorded some of the highest prices, while Cuernavaca and Chihuahua offered the lowest. The price of eggs remained relatively stable, varying between 36 to 66 pesos for an 18-count pack. Additionally, fuel prices were reported, with regular gasoline averaging around 87 pesos, while diesel stood at 25.50 pesos. Concurrently, a report on the security strategy within the country indicated a reduction in intentional homicides by 13.4% per day from January 2015 to October 2024. The presence of the National Guard has considerably contributed to this decline, involving numerous arrests and drug seizures, thereby enhancing national security. These efforts aim to foster a safer and more stable environment for the Mexican populace.
