Morelos Police Capture Violent Extortionists

This morning, Morelos authorities, specifically the police in Cuernavaca, arrested two men aged between 30 and 35 during an extortion case targeting a local taquería. The operation, named 'Operación Estrella,' was implemented following reports of violent crime linked to these suspects. During the arrest, one of the suspects, identified as Ricardo N., reportedly threatened officers claiming to be the son of a prominent local politician, Macrina Vallejo. Both suspects were found in possession of significant weaponry, including two rifles, a 9mm pistol, a fragmentation grenade, and ammunition. Maestra Alicia Vázquez Luna, the Public Health Secretary of Cuernavaca, confirmed the arrest and highlighted that the suspects are known for violent activities throughout the state, including extortion and threats that have previously appeared on narcomantas. This case reflects broader issues of crime intertwined with political influence in Morelos, giving rise to serious concerns for community safety and local governance.
